Making paintings of your special places

After posting about my little paintings making great wedding gifts, I got some queries asking if I would do a custom work depicting a special place. The answer is yes!  I have had several requests for just that, some samples are here in this post: top two were wedding gifts, bottom two Christmas gifts.

In each of these cases, the client came to me with several photos of the area that was to be portrayed. This helps me to get a feel for the place and to capture the essence. Feel free to email me with questions about the commission process.

Rocky hill

I've enjoyed making these small paintings of Schoodic Point, the rocky hills as natural sculpture. The variety of views have allowed me to get intimately acquainted with the landscape, and now will begin work on some very large works working from the memory of these small pieces.

Got weddings? Give art!

A big thank you to Graham and Kate for letting me post their fun photo-booth pictures showing the three Linda Packard small paintings they received as a wedding gift.  About 80% of all my small painting sales are for wedding gifts. Unique and personal, and about the price of a Kitchen-Aid mixer...but longer lasting and much more memorable. Who's on your wedding calendar this year?

See sidebar for links to what is currently available. And check back for new ones.

An Island View

AN ISLAND VIEW from Stonington, Maine's Sand Beach. One of my all time favorite spots to paint every summer. I have set up for the day there and painted a series of the same group of rocks as the tide goes out or comes in. This is from that spot, but taking the long view.

Low Tide

LOW TIDE at Sand Beach, Stonington, Maine is one of my favorite painting spots. I spend a week in Stonington every summer, and at least half of it at this place. One can set up in one spot and enjoy endless painting opportunities from island views, to huge towering boulders, to deep rich woods. Pure joy.

The Break Up

THE BREAK UP...the ice is breaking up and water is starting to flow in the Maine woods. Some days are warm enough to do a little sketching, which inspired this little piece.  Contact artist

Lily Pond

LILY POND.... Seems there is almost always a lily pond at the places I choose to paint. I especially enjoy focusing up close to the point of near abstraction. This was inspired by a paddle at a nearby pond on a crisp clear day last fall.   Contact artist
